Wagyu cravings hit hard when you're wandering around Shinsaibashi-Suji, the buzzing shopping district in Osaka. With streets full of bright signs, snack stalls, and more restaurants than your stomach can handle, the trick is dodging the tourist traps while still getting a solid meal. We were in the mood for quality wagyu without the gimmicks—and Rokunomiya answered the call. Sort of.


📍 Location, Vibes & First Impressions

Rokunomiya sits just a few steps off the main stretch of Shinsaibashi. It’s easy to miss if you’re not paying attention, but once inside, the cozy interior welcomes you with warm lighting and the subtle sizzle of meat on hot grills.

We waited about 15–20 minutes before being seated. The host was organized and polite, moving groups through efficiently without rushing anyone out.

Once seated, you’ll be given a crash course in table-side ordering via a touchscreen. It’s straightforward, but here’s the catch:
Order what you’ll actually eat, they’ll charge you extra if you waste food. That kept us humble during round one.

🥇 Wagyu Ribeye Tender, flavorful, and the clear favorite. Worth a second round.
🥈 Wagyu Top Blade Steak Good texture, but a little lean for our taste.
🥉 Wagyu Lean Steak Still good, just not ribeye-good.
🍚 White Rice Perfectly cooked and great for cutting the richness of the meat.
🌽 Grilled Corn Sweet, juicy, and a nice break from the meat parade.
🍺 Asahi Super Dry Because grilling meat deserves a cold beer.

All the food came out quickly and was uncooked, so you get to play chef. Ideal if you enjoy interactive dining. Personally, I like eating out so someone else cooks, but I’ll admit, it was kind of fun.


💵 Was It Worth the Price?

We spent ¥16,000 ($103 USD) for two people. For an all-wagyu meal in a major Japanese city, that’s not outrageous but it wasn’t exactly a steal either.

If you're trying to stretch your yen, this might not be the best place. If you're in it for the experience and the sizzle, it's a solid pick.


🤔 Would We Go Back?

Probably not but only because Osaka is bursting with incredible food options, and we’re always chasing the next best bite. Rokunomiya gave us what we wanted: wagyu, fast service, and a good time. It just didn’t leave us dreaming about it days later.

Rokunomiya is a safe bet for a quality wagyu meal without the commitment of a high-end steakhouse. It's quick, tasty, and surprisingly chill for its location. Just don’t expect to be blown away and don’t get carried away with that touchscreen.
